Coverage

Will health insurance cover my bill?

Most health insurance plans do cover the cost of the initial hearing test, if your deductible has been met. Some insurance plans, such as Blue Chip and United Health Plans of New England, may provide partial payment for hearing instruments if they are accompanied by a physician referral. Not all plans have a hearing aid benefit. It depends on if they pay extra for the hearing aid provider.

Our staff does all of the required paperwork and will help you determine what services your insurance policy covers.

We participate with the following: Blue Shield of RI, Blue Chip, FEP, Neighborhood Health Plans of RI, Cigna, Aetna, and Medicare (with a referral from your primary care physician).

We also particpate with the following managed care plans:

What is covered under a workers compensation settlement for hearing loss?

Once your case has been resolved by your attorney, all diagnostic testing costs are covered. If hearing aids are recommended, all costs involving the purchase and maintenance of hearing instruments, batteries, repairs, and warranties are covered.

Are my medical records confidential?

Test Results

Will I be informed of the hearing test results at the time of my evaluation?

Yes. Our audiologists will share the results of the test on the day of your evaluation. If a medical referral to an Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist is necessary, our office will assist you with your appointment.

Hearing aid battery

Batteries

How do I get batteries for my hearing aid?

When you purchase a hearing instrument from our office, you are provided with a month’s supply of batteries as part of your "starter set." Frequently, one to three years’ worth of batteries may be covered under your new hearing aid sales agreement. Otherwise, you may purchase a battery club membership at a modest price. In order to obtain batteries, all you have to do is call our office at (401) 349-0456 and we will gladly mail them to you on the same day at no cost.
